Behind The Facade- What Holds Us Together!

During one of the latest holidays, I was driving past the lanes that run along the sea and something unexpected caught my attention.

There were these long stretch of billboards that stood tall, bold, and flawless commanding attention and were so visually appealing that it would grab everyones attention. From the front, they were picture-perfect.

As I drove a little further and glanced at them from behind, a very different scene emerged.

Behind the polished façade was a tangled web of scaffolding, wires, and bolts, messy, unglamorous, yet essential. That hidden framework is what holds the whole thing up, through wind, rain, and time.

People are not all that different.

Every perfect person that we see, every confident speaker, resilient leader, or high-performing team member is often holding together their own scaffolding, their challenges, doubts, personal battles, learning curves. But what we see is only the surface, we only see what we see!

Here is what this reminded me of and I thought of sharing it with you in this newsletter:

• Learning isn’t always visible- It shows in the actions, in choices, in decisions
• Struggles don’t make people weak- They make them real
• Real Growth is behind the scenes- It is often quiet, messy and comes with multiple conscious calls and decisions

As leaders, coaches, and learners, let’s be mindful of the structures that are holding each other up and build environments that support not just the output, but the human behind it.

Because at the end of the day, we are a mix of seen strengths and unseen efforts and struggles and we thrive not just when we are recognised, but when we are understood.
